Common Document-Control Mistakes
Small versioning failures can undermine otherwise sound systems.
Start with the system
Typical problems include duplicated masters, missing approvals, uncontrolled prints, inconsistent titles, broken references and expired review dates.
Put it into practice
Use unique IDs, one approved source, revision history and a register identifying owner, status, effective date and review trigger.
Review and improve
Review after material changes and incidents as well as on a calendar. Remove superseded copies from points of use while retaining controlled archives.
