The Difference Between Owning Policies and Implementing Policies

Why a folder of files is only the beginning.

Start with the system

A policy states an approved position. Implementation is consultation, customisation, approval, communication, training, supervision, recordkeeping and review.

Put it into practice

Evidence is stronger when participant experience, worker explanations, records, observations and management monitoring agree. A signed policy alone cannot demonstrate that chain.

Review and improve

Use an implementation tracker with owners, due dates, competence checks and evidence locations. Treat exceptions as improvement opportunities.
